Another crossed off my bucket list

Went to a pep rally at Atlanta Motor Speedway today.

Grit Chips and Great Clips are co-sponsoring the August 31st race at AMS

Whilst the Great Clip managers from 127 stores were indoors I was driving the 42 foot behemoth RV around the track YEE-FRICKIN-HA!!!

Got on the track at the beginning of turn 3. As we came off turn 4 the AMS rep on board, Alison a lovely young woman, asked me to stop right on the finish line for a photo op. Throwing out the anchor on the RV is like bringing the USS Yorktown to a sudden stop - it aint happening - so I had to go around again - snigger snigger - that's my story and they believed it.

Did have to stay on the flat on the inside of the track. 40 mph around the turns got the passengers, including my boss/friend a little nervous and zipping it up to 60 on the straights got them a tad twitchy Evil

If the RV hadn't been loaded with goodie bags I'd carefully prepared the turns would have been faster. Having to reassemble 200 bags each containing 1 each of the 4 Grit Chip flavors would have been jolly annoying!

Without that risk I reckon the turns could have been at 50mph and the straights pushing 70.

Of course with less fuel and water on board the RV would have gone faster. Cheesy

Motorcycle ride June 27th 2013

I met up with a group of mainly V twin cruisers and a smattering of sport tourers.

Unfortunately their route seemed to be one of mainly straight lines joined by right angles.

It only took a few miles before I peeled off down a curvy two lane back road which I knew led to even curvier roads less travelled.

Eventually I found myself on a country road with no painted lines to disfigure the rough surface. This degraded to a gravel road.

I have travelled hundreds of miles on dirt/gravel roads over the years and I know when to stop and retreat if the going gets too rough.

Looking ahead

A quick paddle and exploratory depth finding with a long stick and full speed ahead.

Looking back

Slightly damp

Car show Saturday June 26th

The owner of the storage facility where the SS Grit Chips is stored organizes a car show 2 or 3 times year.

This past one I had the SS Grit Chips on display handing out samples of the 4 different flavors.

A photo doesn't do the metal flake paint justice.

Then this behemoth arrived. It's a 6 year body off frame restoration where each nut and bolt has been cleaned. This car is of Pebble Beach quality.

It's longer than a Chevrolet Suburban.
